Great Plains is currently seeking an Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner to optimize employee health, prevent illness and injury, provide first aid and treatment to workers who become ill or injured on the job.
This position will manage our Worker Compensation program with our Nursing team, and provide education to improve the health and safety of our employees and their work environments.

On-call to treat employees in emergency situations.
The position will be based on-site in Salina, KS, but will require some day-travel throughout Kansas to visit our other facilities.
Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
Focus on prevention and treatment of stress, muscle pain, injuries, or illnesses.
Provide occupational health services to Great Plains employees within scope of licensure including assessment, diagnostic studies, treatment of illness or injuries, and prescribe medication as needed.
Perform preventative health assessments, employee education, DOT medical exams, screenings and immunizations Develop and conduct wellness programs such as stretches to eliminate muscle pain, health promotion, disease prevention, risk reduction, and stress management.
Provide treatment and management of health conditions on-site and via telephone or virtual technology to provide outstanding medical care to our employees.
Document and maintain confidential medical employee records in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Lead Nursing team to provide medical care in 8 plants, 4 engineering facilities, and corporate offices.
Manages Occupational Health Department Budget.
Plans and directs implementation and administration of workers compensation program, first responder program, drug testing program, and second chance program.
Consults with managers and health care professionals to evaluate need, develop and implement accommodations, return-to-work, light-duty and other restrictions for disabled employees or employees with temporary restrictions.
Collaborate with Health and Safety and Human Resources to design controls for injury prevention and health assessments for actual and potential work hazards.
Preferred Skills and
Qualifications:
Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Practice; Nurse Practitioner Board Certification required DOT Provider Certification preferred Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills used to design creative solutions.
Proven results in improving worker compensation and reducing work injuries.
Ability to be assertive when needed, build rapport with employees, and team orientated.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
