Non-Exempt General Description This position requires you to work collaboratively with our medical providers.
Salina Family Healthcare Center utilizes a team-based concept for patient medical appointments.
Each team is comprised of one or more Faculty Physicians, a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year Resident, a non-Faculty medical provider, a Nurse and a Medical Assistant.
The team-based approach improves access and continuity of care by the providers and teams to their patients.
The nurse assists many doctors who have individual methods of practice, making detailed instructions difficult.
The nurse is responsible for carrying out the instructions of the doctor for whom he/she is assigned and should at all times attempt to anticipate his/her doctor's needs for nursing assistance.

Essential Duties Run team in a calm and efficient manner.
Inspect patients' medical records to insure completeness before the time of patient's appointment and may obtain any missing reports, necessary x-rays, etc.
Assist medical assistant by escorting patients to exam rooms and obtain vital signs.
Prepare patient and insure that all the appropriate instructions and equipment are arranged and ready (see procedure manual for specifics).
Assist doctors in examination of patients.
Carry out or assist physician with diagnostic procedures, tests, and treatment.
May backup immunizations, as necessary.
May backup spirometry, as necessary.
Work collaboratively with the clinical team to promote continuity of patient care.
Schedule appointments/referrals/admissions for patients outside the clinic and give appropriate instructions as needed.
Screen patients' phone messages to physician in order to advise and/or determine if and when an appointment should be made (triage), all calls will generate a EHR message.
Call patients on telephone to relay advice and instructions from physician.
Perform patient teaching and/or nursing checks in accordance with established guidelines or per provider request.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills Required Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and regulations.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Must exhibit initiative and sound judgment in the absence of specific orders.
Must exhibit professional demeanor by being helpful, courteous and efficient when dealing with other employees or outside agencies.
Ability to prioritize tasks to provide appropriate, efficient and quality patient care.
Ability to anticipate and react calmly in emergency situations.
Effective and efficient time management.
Ability to work independently and use good judgement.
Knowledge of standard office machines including copier, fax, multi-line phones, printers, scanners, Education and Experience High school diploma; RN or LPN Kansas State license; 1-3 years previous nursing experience preferred; Knowledge of patient education principals; Must have and maintain CPR certification; Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient and employee-base.
